Technically speaking, the 8' wheels are 1-9\/16' wide. The corner is squared off, and the 3\/8' wheel rim is also coated, making an ideal flat surface for sharpening drill bits etc. They are bored at 5\/8', and include a 1\/2' adapter sleeve for grinders with a 1\/2' shaft. These wheels ARE made of Steel, and are HEAVY (approx 8lb ea). This will require an actual 3\/4 - 1HP 1800 RPM grinder. If using a grinder will less horsepower, they CAN be used but may require a flick with your hand to get them started. These are well made wheels and have been tested for balance.
